You know how Tom Waits' voice sounds like? The unmistakable gruff vocals on 'Ice Cream Man' that come from either Mother Nature or chain-smoking two to three packs of cigs a day? Well, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro with the 6.2-liter V8 engine is the automotive equivalent to the singer's voice.
One music critic told that Waits' voice sounds "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, then taken outside and run over with a car." And if we're to be really honest here, the new Camaro is certainly the best of its kind in terms of the soundtrack it provides.

Our spy photographers caught Chevrolet's new breed of Camaro numerous times in recent months, but this is the first time our carparazzi team had a managed to film the thing dropping hot laps on the demanding Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany.

It's still a mystery just how many horsepower and pounds feet of torque are under the hood of that prototype 2016 Camaro, but we have do hope engineers gave it more than 426 ponies and 420 lb-ft.

Besides the fifth-generation small-block LT1 V8, we're expecting the all-new Camaro to boast with reworked versions of the entry-level V6 mill of the current-gen, with the addition of a 2-liter turbo'd four-pot engine borrowed from the Cadillac ATS. Fingers crossed the blown LT4 6.2L V8 will also be adopted.

Underneath that Bumblebee-inspired bodywork, the new Camaro is riding on a modified GM Alpha, a platform that made its debut on the 2013 Cadillac ATS. Considering the basics include MacPherson struts at the front, a five-link independent rear, high strength steel and aluminum components and great focus on reducing weight, the 2016 Camaro is going to be a better handling pony than the current model.
