Chevy’s full-size sedan just got slicker. Introducing the Impala Midnight Edition, the golden bowtie also proves that a humdrum passenger vehicle with family hauling credentials isn’t synonymous with unexciting.
Introduced for the 2014 model year, it took Chevrolet a year or so to come up with the package known as the Midnight Edition. At first glance, you’ll be hard pressed to differentiate this thing from the concept vehicle shown at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
Price, you ask? The Detroit-based automaker announces that the 2016 Chevrolet Impala Midnight Edition is available for trims levels 1LT, 2LT and LTZ, with pricing ranging from $995 to $1,595 over the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. A handful of 2015MY carsare also slated for production.
In terms of propulsion, customers are offered with two powertrain options: a standard 2.5-liter ECOTEC four-cylinder lump with stop/start technology or the 3.6-liter V6. Both motors are coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. If output is what interests you most, we're much obliged to tell you that the 2.5-liter develops 196 HP and 186 lb-ft and the V6 makes do with 305 HP and 264 lb-ft of torque.
“Since its introduction in 2014, Impala has become a benchmark for Chevrolet car design,” said SteveMajoros , Chevrolet director of car marketing. “The Midnight Edition further strengthens the Impala’s dramatic, head-turning styling.”
As for standard equipment, the package includes various bits and pieces, as presented below:
