Geneva was thrilled to see the new Ford Focus RS making a debut on Swiss soil but the United States are also given a chance to welcome the sizzling-hot hatchback at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
To keep things fresh and crisp, Ford is rewarding the Focus RS with the new signature color known as Nitrous Blue for the high-performance model’s debut scheduled to happen on April 1st.
The new Focus RS will also have the privilege of being the first ever RS vehicle created by Ford to reach the United States market. There’s no word on when that might happen exactly, but (lucky) European customers will see their cars delivered in early 2016.
“Customers have begged for the Focus RS to come to the United States for years. And now we can say that they are getting one of the most innovative, powerful and best-looking RS cars ever. That is special,” said Raj Nair, group vice president at Ford Motor Co.
Well, Mr. Nair, we tend to agree with what you said in terms of good looks, power and all that, but you’ve just made us crazy about getting behind the wheel and see what the Focus RS is down to.
However, we would have liked to receive more info on the car’s power output and not just the mysterious “well in excess of 320 HP” line. But you had us all eyes and ears with that promising turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the Dynamic Torque Vectoring feature on the all-wheel drive system and the extreme Brembo brakes. What can we say, it’s really hard not to fall for that.
Sure, rumors out there are suggesting that the new Focus RS will pack 350 HP but we don’t really care about such speculation. We want to see the thing in the metal along with official performance figures. As simple as that.
