From the reports than roam the vast and intricate Internet, we’re told that the 2016 model year will bring a single serious update over the 2015 Ford Mustang - SYNC II will be upgraded to Gen III. In addition to this infotainment system rejuvenation, not much will be changed for the 2016 model year S550.

Therefore, the powertrain choice will still feature an entry-level 3.7L V6 (300 HP), the mid-range 2.3L EcoBoost (310 HP), the range-topping 5L Coyote V8 (435 HP) and the monstrous 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang with 500+ HP 5.2L V8. Yup, there’s still a lot of waiting before FoMoCo will be ready to bring the S550 Shelby GT500 to market, supercharged V8 tower-of-power and all.

According to the previously mentioned forum, the Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant “is scheduled to be down the week's of 6/15, 6/22, 6/29 & 7/6,” to prepare for the 2016 Ford Mustang’s production and, most probably, for the NYIAS-bound 2016 Lincoln MKS full-size luxury sedan’s production.

Regarding the Ford SYNC 3 infotainment system and the enhancements it brings to the table, the Blue Oval suggested at CES to expect “a more intuitive smartphone-like touchscreen and easier-to-understand graphical interface to help Ford customers connect and control their smartphone on the road.”

Check out the video demonstration below to find out what will change with SYNC 3.
