Acura is not at its finest nowadays. Sales volumes are getting ever smaller in the United States. Truth be told, it’s a natural outcome if you expect that a rebranded Honda Civic deserves a multi-thousand dollar premium. It’s just uncanny, to say the least.
Nevertheless, the Japanese brand’s posh division intends to try and get out of the situation it finds itself in, starting with an upgraded model. Yes, it’ll certainly be based on the second generation, but there’s some evidence according to which the 2016 Acura RDX may be a better proposition than before.
Teased by a silver RDX logo on a white background, the 2016 Acura RDX will bow at the Chicago Auto Show on February 12th, promising “a long list of styling and performance improvements”, as well as “desirable new luxury and safety features designed to further solidify its leadership in the compact luxury SUV segment.” Acura is adamant the 2016 model year improves on things like “performance, dynamics, comfort and NVH.”
Presented by the Japs as “completely reengineered and redesigned,” the 2016 Honda Pilot three-row, eight-passenger SUV will be made in the US and it “will raise the stakes in the mainstream three-row SUV segment” with new everything, says Honda.
Slated to arrive at American dealerships this summer, we’re teased with another interesting detail: the 2016 Honda Pilot “represents a dramatic shift in design,” showcases “new standout technologies, versatility,” as well as “ dynamics currently unavailable in the mainstream SUV segment.”
Pretty bold statements, but we advise you not get your hopes up too high...

But the biggest news is that sister brand Honda will present an all-new Pilot SUV at Chicago
Don’t expect an all-new platform though, but only a reworked Odyssey platform as we pointed out in a previous story, which is bundled with some spy photos too.Presented by the Japs as “completely reengineered and redesigned,” the 2016 Honda Pilot three-row, eight-passenger SUV will be made in the US and it “will raise the stakes in the mainstream three-row SUV segment” with new everything, says Honda.
