2016 Hyundai Elantra Confirmed to Debut in Los Angeles This November

The rumor mill hinted that the AD-gen Hyundai Elantra is set to debut later this year, but AutoBlog learned the Los Angeles Auto Show is slated to be the place of unveiling. In terms of timing, that’s two years since the South Korean brand updated the Elantra at the 2013 edition of the auto show.

Scheduled to be presented to the Korean media much earlier than November, IndianAutosBlog acquired the first photo of the 2016 Hyundai Elantra. Here's hope the compact car in the pic above is the real deal.

For the sixth-generation Elantra, both the pic above and the spy photo gallery depict an evolutionary design that’s aligned to Hyundai current styling language. Supposedly, the first Euro examples will arrive at dealers next year in March and the United States of America will get it around that timeframe as well.

On the outside, the large trapezoidal grille is augmented by large air intakes and vertical strips of LED daytime running lights. Any angle you look at it, the front fascia is far more mature and enticing than the outgoing Elantra’s. On the oily bits front, the Old Continent and Asia are set to get the usual array of four-cylinder turbo diesel lumps.

A purported addition to the engine lineup could come in the guise of an all-new 1.6 T-GDI turbocharged petrol, a mill that was introduced on the all-new Hyundai Tucson. The 176 bhp this engine churns out are channeled to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or a newly developed seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
