Hyundai's plans for the European market are more ambitious than ever, and we can't really complain because diversity and competition are two things that make the auto industry grow.

Back to Hyundai's plans now. The Korean carmaker just revealed the new i20 Active for Europe, "a rugged crossover for urban adventure" (that is, pothole avoiding procedures) coming to extend the i20 lineup. We remind you that earlier this year, the Koreans launched the i20 Active on the Indian market.

This way, clients will be able to choose from the regular i20, the sporty i20 Coupe or the beefed-up i20 Active. In terms of changes applied by Hyundai, we can tell you that the i20 Active received - besides the obvious crossover-ish stance - revised suspension settings that increase the model's ground clearance by 20 mm compared to the five-door version.

Also, the seat position was also raised, while skid plates were added to the front and rear, coupled with cladding on the wheel arches.

In terms of what clients should expect under the hood, we can tell you the Hyundai i20 Active will receive the carmaker's new 1.0-liter turbocharged engine. However, the mill will be offered with two power outputs: the 100 horsepower version is tuned to maximise fuel efficiency while the more potent 120 horsepower version adds a more sporty attitude without making fuel consumption grow.

Along with the i20 Active, Hyundai will also present the new Santa Fe in Frankfurt, another model the Koreans hope will appeal European customers since the SUV niche is very popular at this moment on the other side of the pond.

Moreover, we'll also have a chance to meet the G Vision prototype in the metal, and ultimately get a glimpse at what Hyundai is preparing for the future in terms of design and technology. After all, they have to face a lot of big-name European carmakers in order to secure a better position in terms of sales, so constant improvement is a must.
