While the US-spec 2015 Hyundai Sonata is the all-new, seventh generation model, its hybridized brother from the same model year is just a sixth generation.
Thanks to the recent South Korean launch of the brand new Sonata Hybrid, we can now tell you what to expect from the eco-friendly variant of the Asian automobile manufacturer’s flagship nameplate.
What you see in the photo gallery below is the Korean-spec model, animated by a 2.0 engine churning out 154 ponies and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) of torque. An electric motor hikes the powertrains’ output with 51 horsepower and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) extra grunt for up to 205 hp and 291 lb-ft (395 Nm).
Compared to the 2015 model year, the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid's GDI engine is 4 percent more powerful and 5.5 percent torquier, while the electric motor is approximately 8.6 percent more gutsy
If you’re more interested in the battery, that's been gingerly improved to 1.6 kWh. As a brief reminder, the older model’s battery pack boasted with a capacity of 1.43 kWh.
