Watch out, we got a badass over here going by the name of Mazda and it really means business. As in, MX-5 Club edition business what will unfold next week during the New York International Auto Show.
Forget about the Mazda pack available for those who play Forza Horizon 2. You don’t need to drive a virtual 2016 Miata MX-5 on a virtual course, even if that probably means lots of fun. What you need to do is read carefully, as the MX-5 Miata Club is going to be revealed as “the most aggressive road-going iteration of Mazda’s fourth-generation flagship roadster.”

We’ve heard fancier PR talk than this, but we’re giving Mazda the benefit of the doubt on this one. After all, April 1st is closing in fast and we should see what the Japanese have in store pretty soon.

However, we didn’t forget the fact that Mazda global PR chief Kudo Hidetoshi said that a turbocharged MPS variant is one of the options the company will evaluate in the future. We think it’s too early for that to happen in New York, but still, this only makes us more eager to find out what is Mazda up to.

Realistically speaking, all we can expect is a slightly toned-up body kit and the presence of one or two aerodynamic components here and there, but nothing too fancy. For now, all we know is that the 2016 Miata can be had with either a 1.5-liter engine good for 129 HP and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) or a more generous 2.0-liter banger creating 155 HP and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).

So, let's just let our hair down and enjoy the upcoming festivities of the New York Interational Auto Show, where all these confusing press releases, teaser photos and short videos will find a meaning.
