2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Seen in Motion Is the Best You Can Do Right Now

Mercedes-Benz is expecting a lot of good things from the 2016 S-Class Cabriolet, their first open-top S-Class for the last 44 years. After yesterday's full reveal, the Stuttgart brand is now spoiling us with not one, but five promotional videos.

We still have a few more days to wait until the official presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany, but there's little we don't yet know about the 2016 S-Class Cabriolet. Nevertheless, words and images don't quite cut it when it comes to doing justice to such a magnificent automobile, so these presentation videos come just in time.

Both models being made available at launch - the Mercedes-Benz S500 Cabriolet and Mercedes-AMG S63 Cabriolet - receive the same amount of attention from the filmmakers. They each have their own static presentation video followed by dynamic shots, and it all ends with a short(er) trailer featuring both models.

We've already seen the same scheme with the recently unveiled Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, so I'm guessing it's to become the norm for Mercedes-Benz in the future.

As a reminder, after its short drive from Stuttgart to Frankfurt for the official presentation, the sales for the new S-Class Cabriolet will begin in December 2015, while actual deliveries will take place in early 2016.

The canvas roof of the new S-Class Coupe takes 20 seconds to open or close and can be operated at speeds of up to 60 km/h (37 mph). Mercedes-Benz promises a similar acoustic insulation level as in the Coupe version, so expect the car to stay as refined as an S-Class is supposed to be.

Another promise Mercedes-Benz is making regarding its new S-Class Cabriolet is that thanks to clever use of lightweight materials, it will also drive just as well as the Coupe, with minimal differences in weight between the two.

If you'd like to know more about the new car you can have a look at our detailed presentation of the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet here, but we strongly recommend you start with the video below.
