Let the teasing for the 2016 Pajero Sport begin, or at least that's what Mitsubishi is trying to tell us with their latest photo showing the upcoming SUV lurking in the dark.
It might look like the beast from the movie 300, you know, the one Leonidas had to defeat to become a man, but we know better because it's not the first time we met the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport/Montero Sport/Shogun Sport/Nativa/Challenger.

In fact, our carparazzi spotted the Pajero Sport on several occasions while the SUV was just a pre-production test mule. Also, someone rendered the soon-to-be-launched SUV and last but not least, a batch of patent images were unintentionally 'leaked' on the Internet last month.

So, here's what we know so far on the 2016 Pajero Sport. For starters, the SUV will receive Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield front grille, similar to what the 2016 Outlander has to offer.

Overall, there's a hint of GC-PHEV Concept in the Pajero Sport's outside styling, but we'll have to wait for official photos to surface on the Internet before getting into a design-related deeper analysis.

Regarding space under the hood, we believe this area will be filled by a plug-in hybrid setup, along with both gasoline and diesel units taken from the L200/Triton pickup truck lineup, with power outputs between 128 horsepower and 181 horsepower.

Moreover, Mitsubishi could equip the Pajero Sport with a five-speed and a six-speed manual gearbox, as well as with a five-speed automatic transmission for drivers to exploit those resources mentioned above. We'll know more on August 1, when the model will be officially unveiled during the 2015 Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale.
