Ever since we found out about the possible existence of a Lexus model called LF-LC, enthusiasm took over. However, you can't say that about Lexus, as the Japanese brand was severely tight-lipped about the model.
But we're used to processing and interpreting rumors as the auto industry has a lot of time for speculation. First was the news that Lexus trademarked the 'LC' nameplate, in LC 500 and LC 500h derivatives.

After that, info emerged on the fact that Lexus LF-LC would enter production, and the finite product will be a cheaper yet good-looking alternative to the 500-unit limited Lexus LFA supercar.

At that time, officials claimed the LF-LC will be more like a normal car, rather than a full-carbon vehicle, meant to challenge the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé and revive the SC badge born in 1991 and discontinued in 2010.

According to Automobile Mag, the new two-door model will offer no less than three engine choices. First in line would be a five-oh V8, backed by a hybrid setup good for anywhere around 500 HP plus an 'F' version animated by a twin-turbo V8 spitting in excess of 600 HP.

The same source claims a big, superstar-like coupé is what Lexus needs to gain a foothold in the luxury segment where players like Mercedes-Benz and BMW are making the rules.

Also, we shouldn't expect the Lexus coupé to arrive sooner than mid- to late 2016, most likely as a 2017MY. We'll wait and see how Lexus manages to handle their current aggressive design language that isn't exactly want customers want from a classy coupé with high style expectations.
