In a premier of the the Mercedes-Benz brand, the next generation of E-Class saloon will be equipped with a Remote Parking Pilot system. In short, it's a smartphone app that allows the occupants to get out and park it in a much tighter space than normal.
BMW showed a similar setup for the 2016 7 Series saloon. The only difference here is that the E-Class belongs to the class below, being a competitor for the 5 Series.
The device offers two major benefits. Firstly, it allows you to fit the car inside a much tighter space, as is usually the case with underground spaces or old garages. Secondly, driver with restricted mobility and or disabilities can get out of the car without much hassle. Remember, the typical large German saloon buyer is about 50 years old.
And if you're still worried about not being able to park, a 360-degree camera system and Parking Pilot sensors will help with that. They will come standard if you order the Remote Parking Pilot.
But that's only the beginning, as the W213 E-Class will feature many more innovations. For example, the Digital Car Key is an authorization system that uses Near Field Communication technology and allows the driver's smartphone to access many functions, including locking and using the air conditioning.
Premium car buyers like to be dazzled by bright lights, so the next E-Class will feature Multibeam LED headlights, with 4 individually activated high-performance LEDs. The compute-controlled system will ensure maximum visibility without blinding other road users.
The next E-Class will also feature semi-automated driving on highways and freeways, or even city traffic. The car will use the brakes in hazardous situation and even help with evasive maneuvers.
