Updated: 850 HP Hennessey Dodge Challenger Hellcat Burns Rubber like a Pro

Now that Hennessey Performance has come up with a complete range of upgrades for the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, the aftermarket developer has started displaying the kind of octane abuse its goodies can deliver.

Case in point: the video below, which shows what the 850 hp kit for the blown SRT machine can do.

We'll remind you the Texan tuner currently offers three packages for the Challenger Hellcat, with these following the usual HP-dictated nomenclature. The HPE850 mentioned above is accompanied by the entry-level, if we may call it so, HPE800.

Then we have the downright monstrous HPE1,000, which sees the 6.2-liter V8 maintaining its factory blower, but also gaining a pair of turbines in its quest to deliver 1,032 hp at the crank.

Yes, we know, the triple-charging scheme doesn't exactly sound like the most natural thing in the world, but we have to keep in mind this is Hennessey we're talking about.

Returning to the 850-pony muscle car in the piece of footage below, here are the full contents of the package:

  • New ECU
  • Upgraded tuning software
  • High flow air filter element
  • Lower pulley upgrade (increases boost by 1-2 psi)
  • Port matched throttle body
  • Hennessey embroidered head rests
  • Exterior Hennessey emblem
  • Exterior HPE850 emblems
  • Serial numbered dash plaque
  • Serial numbered plaque in engine compartment

While we're happy to see the Hellcat Challenger receiving some serious technical attention, we can't be thrilled by the presentation video. Let's just say Hennessey should upgrade this area of its business.

Truth be told, we have been following the Lone Star State aftermarket developer's website for quite some time now and we've seen more and more improvements lately, so we could expect the videos to change too. Meanwhile, we'll try to focus on the vicious soundtrack delivered by this massaged incarnation of the Mopar machine.

Update: Hennessey has given us the full details of the HPE1000 triple-charged Hellcat package.
